Kings XI Punjab on Monday were bundled out for 170 falling short of 4 runs against the mighty Mumbai Indians. The contest turned out to be a pretty interesting one with Punjab almost crossing the line till the last over. The drama started when Rohit Sharma hit David Hussey’s final over of the Mumbai Innings for 27 runs to get to a total of 174. Hussey seemed to be under scrutiny for having chosen himself to bowl the last over after leading his side today following Gilchrist’s voluntary sit out due to underperformance. Sharma remained not out on 65 as Mumbai gave a stiff target of 175 on this wicket which seemed to favor the bowlers more and with Malinga and Johnson on their side Punjab really had to do a miracle to get to the total. However, banking on stand-in captain...Read More

Royal Challengers suffered their first consecutive defeat in this season after Mumbai Indians, now it’s the Rajasthan Royals led by the veteran Rahul Dravid. Having won the toss first and put to bat the Challengers scored a decent challenge of 171 to chase with mediocre efforts from Virat, Gayle and the rest of the team. He was accompanied by Shane Watson and Brad Hodge with 41 and 32 respectively for the chase. The Rajasthan Royals won with a ball to spare at the end. This was probably the worst time for RCB as they lost 2 matches on a row now and will surely come back stronger in the next game given the...Read More

When Sir Garfield Sobers of West Indies hit 6 sixes in a single over for the first time in the history of cricket, it was a benchmark and a highlight in the sport. The record remained untouched for more than a decade until Ravi Shashtri from India repeated the feat in 1985. After this second instance, the achievement remained history for more than 2 decades. It was in 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup when South African power-hitter Herschelle Gibbs hit 6 sixes against Canada in an ODI. However, after this instance it didn’t take decades for the record to resurface. In fact, it was achieved once again in the very same year by Yuvraj Singh, another Indian, against English bowler Stuart Broad in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup of 2007. After being at the receiving end for the last time,...Read More
